MWC Recruiting Roundup 5-18-20

The latest news and offers in the MWC.

NCAA Football: Boise State at Colorado State Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, another recruiting roundup.

Again, this past week saw a number of new commitments, with ten new verbal commits in the Mountain West spread across six teams. Quite a few conference schools had big weeks. New Mexico had three new commitments, while Air Force handed out 17 new offers to recruits. However, it was the Rams once again who take the lead photo, as they continued their hot recruiting early in the year with four new verbal commits, for the second week in a row.

Class of 2021 Cover Photo Total:

  • New Mexico: 4
  • Colorado State: 3
  • UNLV: 2
  • Air Force: 1
  • Hawaii: 1

Recruiting Calendar:

From March 1st until April 14th, we are in the time known as the Quiet Period. New offers will still go out and recruits may take unofficial visits to a college campus. What you will see most often are teams hosting Junior Days. From NCAAsports.org:

The NCAA defines the quiet period as a time when “a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college campus and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high school.” To break it down, the NCAA Quiet Period is a time you can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach is not allowed to watch athletes compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home—or talk to them anywhere outside of the college campus. The goal of this period is to give elite recruits a break from getting visited by college coaches at their games and at their home. For average recruits, this time will feel like a contact period. You can still text, call, email or direct message coaches during this time—and you should be reaching out to stay proactive in your recruiting.

As of Friday the 13th, we are in a mandatory Dead Period.

Update: The dead period has been extended until May 31st. But reading below, it sounds more like a contact period to some degree.

Update: Coaches can have unlimited calls and video meetings during this time.
