MWC Recruiting Roundup 4-6-20

So. Many. Offers.

NCAA Football: New Mexico at Wyoming Troy Babbitt-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, another recruiting roundup.

Thankfully, offers are still being handed out (but not physically, don’t worry) from schools to recruits, at least for now. The new mandated dead period may bring that to a halt but we will carry on as long as we can. This week, there were 127 offers handed out, and once again all 12 teams were in on the action, which means teams are still finding ways to evaluate recruits even without being able to see them in person. New Mexico who led the way with 32 offers and thus they are displayed in the photo. UNLV was right behind them with 29.

Also, the number of total 2021 commits more than doubled to five, with three coming this week.

Class of 2021 Cover Photo Total:

  • UNLV: 2
  • Air Force: 1
  • Hawaii: 1
  • New Mexico: 1

Recruiting Calendar:

From March 1st until April 14th, we are in the time known as the Quiet Period. New offers will still go out and recruits may take unofficial visits to a college campus. What you will see most often are teams hosting Junior Days. From NCAAsports.org:

The NCAA defines the quiet period as a time when “a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents off the college campus and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high school.” To break it down, the NCAA Quiet Period is a time you can talk to college coaches in-person on their college campus. However, the coach is not allowed to watch athletes compete in-person, visit their school, talk to them at their home—or talk to them anywhere outside of the college campus. The goal of this period is to give elite recruits a break from getting visited by college coaches at their games and at their home. For average recruits, this time will feel like a contact period. You can still text, call, email or direct message coaches during this time—and you should be reaching out to stay proactive in your recruiting.

As of Friday the 13th, we are in a mandatory Dead Period.

Update: The dead period has been extended until May 31st.

Also, in what is sure to be the first of many similar announcements.,.
