Curtis Weaver declared for the NFL draft after a great redshirt junior season where he became the all-time sack leader in the Mountain West and won the defensive player of the year award. Weaver was projected by most experts to be drafted late in the first round or the second round.
After waiting much longer than expected, Weaver was selected in the fifth round with the pick number 164 by the Miami Dolphins. Weaver was criticized for struggling is pass coverage and some experts felt like he needs to improve against the run. Whatever the case is, the Dolphins are getting a great value in Weaver. Weaver will be a fixture on third downs for years to come.
