News across the sports world might be scarce right now, but Wyoming managed to make headlines with the hiring of Jeff Linder. Linder arrives in Laramie from Northern Colorado, where he found success despite limitations of NCAA infractions from the previous regime. Linder was also an assistant under Leon Rice at Boise State. Pokes basketball is on the rise.
It took a few days to announce, but Boise State football did NOT practice Friday and has suspended practice for now. What happens next is hard to tell. Resume practice sometime during the summer? May? Add the 12 practices to fall camp? Like much of the sports world, it’s difficult to project what’s next.
Chris Murray has us sad as hell over here, reminiscing about March Madness’ of yesteryear while this year’s edition is canceled. It was two years ago yesterday that Nevada basketball staged one of the most unlikely comebacks in tournament history, propelling the Pack to a deep NCAA Tournament run. * sigh * those were the days.
Not exactly a stunning revelation, but the recent cancellations of winter and spring sports for the remainder of the year are going to hurt the Mountain West financially. Power 5 schools will be fine, but this will hit hard for us mid-major types.
What do y’all think? How far would San Diego State/Utah State have advanced?
