It’s Monday and we are back at it following the weekend with another slew of football games. Check out our links below and our original content coming this week.
They led early, they led in the middle of the game, and they led late. It was more of the same for San Jose State, using a balanced offensive attack to jump out to an early lead that they never relinquished. Hawaii managed to make a game out of it in the middle, but the Spartans were in pretty firm control throughout.
For one weekend, all is right in Albuquerque. New Mexico won it’s first game of the season, their first game under Danny Gonzales, and snapped their 14-game losing streak. It wasn’t easy; they had to overcome numerous turnovers and ended the game with a walk-on redshirt freshman at quarterback, their 4th string QB. However, their running game was top-notch most of the night and it helped them chip away at the Wyoming defense (who had injuries of their own at QB and RB).
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: San Diego State was able to win thanks to leaning heavily on their run game, a great defense, and scoring most of their points via special teams. They only offensive points their scored were a passing TD, otherwise it was two return TDs and 3 field goals. The Rams hung around but were not a match for the Aztecs defense, who allowed no points in the second half.
