In a statement released on Tuesday via Twitter, UNLV men’s basketball coach T.J. Otzelberger announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Shortly after the release of the statement, UNLV announced that the program us pausing in-person team activities due to a confirmed case of COVID-19.

With the news on UNLV pausing team activities, the Mountain West announced that the upcoming two-game series between UNLV and the Wyoming Cowboys scheduled for Dec. 20 and 22 has been postponed. Both games will be rescheduled and be planned to play at a later date.
Due to positive COVID-19 cases within the UNLV men’s basketball program, the two-game series between the Runnin’ Rebels and Wyoming on Dec. 20-22 has been postponed.

The Runnin’ Rebels had its game against Pepperdine scheduled for Monday Dec. 14 was postponed as well as the Eastern Washington game scheduled for last Wednesday Dec. 9 due to positive test within the program. Even with those two games canceled, UNLV had not announced a pause in team activities until the program made the announcement on Tuesday.
UNLV has not played a game since Saturday, Dec. 5 when they beat Kansas State 68-58 in Manhattan. The Runnin’ Rebels are scheduled to face San Diego State in a two-game series scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 2 in Las Vegas, with the Saturday game scheduled to be on CBS.
