Another week, another recruiting roundup.
With the season in full swing and no recruiting visits, things continue to be developing slowly. Coaches are focused on the upcoming games over anything else. In a normal season, this usually happens in August. This year, it’s happening now.
This past week saw six new verbals in to the Mountain West, with SJSU picking up half of them. New Mexico, SDSU, and Wyoming rounded out the new pledges. The Spartans took care of business both on and off the field this week so they find their place on the banner.

The dead period is still alive. But based on what the NCAA is allowing, it seems more like a contact period to some degree, as coaches can have unlimited calls and video meetings during this time.
Update: The Dead Period has been extending through the end of the 2020.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Looks like it’s time to bring this back. Since the Air Force Academy regularly has around 100 commits in each class, it’s kind of fun to track them over the course of the year.
Number of Falcon verbal commits: 42
A Glance At San Jose State Recruiting:
San Jose State has subtly recruited well in the Brennan era, which has lead to slow and steady progress the past two seasons. Are they continuing that recruiting trend this year?
This year they are ranked 10th in the Mountain West and 116th in the nation per 247 composite rankings. Out of their 10 verbal commits, 8 hail from California, with the other two coming from Illinois and Nevada. They have spread out the commits with 8 different positions being featured.
In the annual “San Jose State got a recruiting steal” commit, this class is led by LB Bryun Parham out of Long Beach Poly high school. On the other side of the ball, Walker Eget a nice looking quarterback who could fit their style of offense pretty well. They found some size and athleticism at the skill positions, which they have a growing track record of developing in their system, especially on offense.
Looking ahead, the Spartans could add to this class pretty much all across the board. It would make sense to focus as much as possible on both sides of the line, as well as linebacker. If they can get one or two solidly rated players in those positions, it will continue their pretty good but not great recruiting classes.
