Game Previews:
What to Watch For:
- Spartans/Aztecs: This is a big game for SJSU, but one that is a huge uphill battle Their effective offense will go up against an impressive defense. Likewise, the Spartan defense has been a surprise but no one has yet to be able to slow down the Aztec running game yet.
- Broncos/Cougars: The Cougars have been a national darling thanks to their 1) evident talent 2) easy schedule. Boise State will be their toughest challenger to date, but the injuries are piling up for the Broncos. BSU will need to run the ball effectively and step up their turnover game.
- Falcons/Black Knights: The Commander-In-Chief Trophy is up for grabs. AFA needs to get back on track, mainly on the defensive end. It’s triple option against triple option. Will the Falcons get their inactive/injured offensive skill players back for this game?
- Bulldogs/Rebels: Fresno State got back on track last week in thanks to cleaning up their passing game. UNLV found better balance on offense last week in a competitive loss. This should be a good game and the Rebels best chance is winning a shootout. On the other hand, the Bulldogs will want to let their defense take control, as they shouldn’t have to worry about not scoring enough points.
- Lobos/Rainbow Warriors: It will be interesting to see how New Mexico comes out in their second game with the hype and excitement from opening day no longer there. That will likely be the most interesting aspect heading into the game. Otherwise, what Hawaii offense will show up? Likely the dynamic one, but do they only show up against poor teams?
