On Tuesday the New Mexico Bowl announced that they will move the annual game to Frisco, Texas for the 2020 edition.
“Due to current state guidelines in New Mexico regarding college athletics and travel, the 2020 New Mexico Bowl will be staged in Frisco, Texas, at Toyota Stadium, on Thursday, Dec. 24, at 3:30 p.m. ET.” the New Mexico Bowl said in a statement.
The New Mexico Bowl features a matchup between the Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference and has been played since 2006. Teams representing the MWC in the contest are 9-5 overall. New Mexico, Colorado State, Utah State and Arizona each have two wins in the bowl, which is tied for most.
The 2020 contest will be televised on ESPN and is scheduled to be the sixth bowl game of the 2020-21 Bowl Season, and second in Frisco. The Tropical Smoothie Frisco Bowl is slated to be held on December 19th.
