It’s Monday and we are back at it after another MWC weekend of football. Check out our links below and our original content coming this week.
Falcons emerge from hiatus in big way.
Air Force missed a few games due to Covid, but finally got to get back on the field Friday evening. The dominant offensive lineman returned for Air Force but had backups at QB, RB and FB, as well as LB on the defensive side of the ball. It didn’t matter, as Brad Roberts stepped in at tailback with three touchdowns and a defense missing 10 of 11 projected starters from the summer pitched a shutout. Troy Calhoun also picked up his 100th win as the Falcon’s head coach.
Nevada holds on against the Aztecs.
For the second week in a row, the Wolf Pack came away with a victory in a game that went down to the wire. An interception by Strong late in the fourth almost proved costly as the Aztecs drove down the field to set up first and goal and failed to convert on four straight attempts. In somewhat of a surprise, it was the Nevada defense that came up big, at one point forcing five straight three-and-outs.
Boise State survives on the islands.
It was boring, then exciting, then anxiety provoking for Boise State in their Saturday night/Sunday morning win over Hawaii. It was far from their best game of the season. Considering they played less about 24 hours after arriving in Hawaii, it was a get the way and get out of their type approach. The defense will have to tighten up if they want to neutralize the Spartan’s passing attack this coming Saturday.
