One of the most highly anticipated games of the season in the Mountain West will not be happening, as the Mountain West tonight made the decision to cancel Saturday’s matchup between the undefeated San Jose State Spartans and the 3-1 Fresno State Bulldogs for the Valley Trophy. Due to contact tracing within the Fresno State program, the team will not be able to compete on Saturday. Sadly, this means the tightly contested rivalry game will not happen, and this may have big implications for the conference standings for both teams.
As of now, both teams will now look towards their next game, with Fresno State hosting San Diego State next Friday. The Spartans will travel to Boise State in what looks like a title game eliminator for both programs next Saturday. Keep it here at MWConnection for more information as it becomes available.
