Each week, we will be announcing our players of the week for the Mountain West Conference. Disclaimer: These are not the official are not the official announcements from the Mountain West. We will be handing out three awards each week: Offensive player of the week, defensive player of the week, and special teams player of the week.
Offensive Player of the Week:
Carson Strong

Strong almost lost this award in the fourth quarter, when the Nevada offense started struggle and the Wolf Pack nearly blew what looked like an insurmountable lead. But Strong looked like the best quarterback in the Mountain West this week and made an excellent throw to win the game in overtime. Strong finished the game with 420 yards and four passing touchdowns. Chevan Cordeiro and Khalil Shakir were also considered.
Defensive Player of the Week:
Eugene Ford

Two interceptions and four tackles for Hawaii defensive back. The Rainbow Warriors looked very capable on defense. If they can keep, this up they could be headed to another conference championship game.
Special Teams Player of the Week:
John Hoyland
The announcers sure made it sound like this kid couldn’t make a kick past 35 yards. But he was consistent and made all four of his kicks. It may have been in a losing effort, but a great performance by the freshman.
