Happy Tuesday, folks. No shortage of news for you today as there have been a couple of new football hires and as always a new AP poll and player of the week.
Week 13 AP poll
The week 13 AP poll comes in with no change to the top 4 which means SDSU stays put at #4 in the nation, The Aztecs set a school record by winning their 21st game of the season on Sunday to move to 21-0. No other MW teams are receiving votes.
Rocky Long back at New Mexico as DC
Rocky Long, who had just recently stepped down as HC at SDSU and considered himself retired, is back as UNM’s new defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Long was UNM’s head coach from 1998 to 2008. Long was extremely successful as HC for the Aztecs, going 81-38 in nine seasons.
Hawaii finds new DC
Victor Santa Cruz, former head coach at DII Azusa Pacific, has been named the defensive coordinator at Hawaii. Santa Cruz played linebacker at UH and is best known for his double-eagle defensive scheme.
