New coach, Aztecs climb rankings, Merrill has CLASS, next steps for Broncos, Rebels gain a DC, Falcons lose a QB.

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Washington Huskies vs Utah State Aggies Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Wednesday and here are some Mountain West related links to get you over the hump and into the second half of the week.

The Rainbow Warriors have a coach.

The Aztecs are a consensus top 5 team.

Aggie nominated for award.

Utah State’s Sam Merrill has been nominated for the Senior CLASS award, one of 30 players to receive the honor. To be considered, athletes have to excel in the community, classroom, character, and competition.

Boise State’s potential next steps.

Matt Brown (Editor of College Brands at SBNation) is writing more about the MWC media deal and what Boise State could do now that they have responded with displeasure. Those options here are 1) complain and do nothing (unlikely), 2) sue the conference (with the binding clause and no expiration date being their main argument), 3) leaving the MWC (interesting, but lots of questions). He also said this was very preventable.

Rebels have a defensive coordinator.

Falcons lose a QB.

Sanders has starting experience and for a team that relies on QB depth for their offense, this has an impact.
