It was a big week on the field for the Mountain West, but more of a quiet week on the recruiting trail. The MWC actually lost a commit this week, but gained three as well, so net is plus two. Air Force and SJSU were the schools who gained a commit, and those were pretty much the highlight of an otherwise slow weekend. The Spartans also put out an offer AND had a win on the field, so they’ll take their place on the cover photo.

Commitment Spotlight
DB Zavion Reese (SJSU)
“The biggest reasons SJSU was right for me were...the Coaches support of me since giving me a offer back in early March of my Jr year. Coach Brennan, Coach Odum, Coach Williams have all been very honest always. I recently visited SJSU for the Tulsa game and the love and hospitality shown to me and my family was a great experience. The constant show of support for the staff with a hand written letter every week! It just feels good and I believe in what Coach Brennan is trying to rebuild in San Jose. Also I fell in love with the campus and the culture within the program. The coaches have always been great. Always a great feeling while there visiting both times. I met a couple of players during the tour before the Tulsa game, and they were very cool. They talked very highly of the coaches and the atmosphere in San Jose. Very cool guys. I’ll likely play cornerback. I’ve played wide receiver as well as corner, so I know routes and how to break on them, knowing when the wideouts are about to run out of their break. I can be physical in press if need be , and I believe I can play in zone coverage, covering my responsibilities and coming up making tackles as well when needed.”
