San Diego State (3-0) defeated New Mexico State (0-3) in a game where the Aztecs looked to have it all figured out.
SDSU led NMSU by a score of 17-0 in the first half and only allowed the Aggies to score their only touchdown for the game in the third quarter.
The Aztecs scored four touchdowns with three of them coming on the ground.
San Diego State found a lot of production from their running backs Jordan Byrd and Chance Bell.
They combined for a total of 245 yards, while Byrd scored twice and Bell scored once.
Ryan Agnew had a modest game completing 17 of his 26 passes for 116 yards.
He threw for one touchdown that was caught by Daniel Bellinger and mistakenly threw his first interception of the year.
For the third week in a row the defense allowed for the Aztecs to capitalize on opponents mistake.
Luq Barcoo and Kyahva Tezino picked off a pair of passes and Darren Hall forced two fumbles.
Tariq Thompson recovered one of the fumbles and returned it for 45 yards.
With the run game finally coming together this San Diego State football team is becoming a consistent and respectable football team.
Now that conference play will begin for the Aztecs I do not believe there is any team in the Mountain West that should underestimate this team.
San Diego State will face Utah State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. to kick-off conference play for the season.
