NCAA Football: Air Force at Colorado Russell Lansford-USA TODAY Sports

Another week another MWC win over a PAC12 team. This and more for you in today’s Monday links!

Air Force continues the conference’s winning ways over the PAC12.

It took overtime, but the Falcons held off Colorado in an impressive win. Air Force led most of the game, thanks to a few passing TDs (yes passing!) and controlling the time of possession battle as usual. The defense was especially strong, with Jeremy Fejdelem and Milton Bugg III having big days. Though they blew a lead in the 4th, they made the key stop in overtime when it counted.

MWC closing that divide between P5/G5 early on this year.

The early success of MWC teams against schools from P5 conference is getting a lot of deserving media attention! In this article, this quote sticks out:

Thompson is also hoping these big wins have an impact on the new media deal he has been negotiating. At the end of the day, all wins are a good thing.

Aztecs continue their winning ways.

San Diego State seems to have found the right formula on offense after their poor showing week 1 on that side of the ball. Winning their 8th straight game against New Mexico State, they used the passing game to set up the run. They used the passing game to stake an early lead in the first half and then cruised in the second, controlling the ball and killing clock with the run game. They start conference play against another set of Aggies, Utah State.

Grad transfer makes first 100-yard game count.

Trey Smith, the grad transfer running back from Louisville had never had a 100-yard rushing game at the college level. That changed Saturday night and it helped the Cowboys win a close game against FCS Idaho. Wyoming didn’t look the sharpest, trailing early on and keeping it close even after taking a lead. But sometimes football is win and survive, which they accomplished.

Boise State moves up in the rankings.
