Game Time:
Saturday, September 14th at 3:00 PM (Mountain) on ESPN3
The History:
Limited history for these teams, having met just seven times. Wyoming is 6-1 against Idaho. The teams last met in Laramie in 2013. That game ended 42-10, Wyoming.
The Matchup:
On offense, Wyoming will run the ball. Idaho probably will not be up for stopping the Cowboy running game. Against Penn State earlier this year, Idaho gave up 331 yards and 7 TDs rushing. In an Idaho win over Central Washington last week, Central Washington ran for over 100 yards as their starting running back, Michael Roots, averaged 5.1 yards/carry.
On the defensive side, it’s hard to know what to expect from Idaho. Penn State completely shutdown the Vandals offense in Week 1. In Week 2, Idaho found success both on the ground and in the air versus Central Washington. For the Wyoming defense, they will need to improve against the passing game. Over the first two games, Wyoming has already given up over 800 yards passing. Idaho comes in with a senior QB, Mason Petrino, who will need to make some plays against the Wyoming secondary if Idaho is to hang around in this one.
The Outcome:
The spread has Wyoming by 24.5. That seems about right. The Idaho defense does not look like it will keep Wyoming from scoring, and the Wyoming defense should be able to mostly handle the Idaho offense.
Idaho 13, Wyoming 38
