We are continuing our countdown of the top players on the 2019 Boise State football team. This week, we are featuring a player that went down with a season-ending injury in 2018. If anything good came out of that injury, it is that we will get another year of this player. Checking in at number four...

DeAndre Pierce

DeAndre Pierce has been an invaluable part of the Bronco defense the past three seasons. Pierce saw the field as a true freshman and made an immediate impact. He gained a reputation as a hard hitting safety and a lockdown defender in the passing game. The defense took a noticeable step back after Pierce’s injury against Wyoming. He will form a dynamic tandem with fellow safety Kekoa Nawahine. Nawahine and Pierce will both be healthy entering the 2019 season and should be key contributors to one of the top defenses in the Mountain West.

Will Pierce help the Broncos return to the championship game in 2019? Or will injuries continue to plague the Boise State defense?

Let’s take a look at the countdown to this point.

#15: John Ojukwu

#14: David Moa

#13: Avery Williams
