Game Previews:

What to Watch For:

  • Air Force has what amounts to a warm-up game against Colgate. Look for them to dominate. If they don’t, it could be telling for how they will be this season.
  • Boise State: They’ve been in the news a bit this week. Going cross-country to play in Florida, game almost cancelled but then moved to Florida State and moved up 6 hours. And oh yeah, they are starting a true freshman. The Broncos have everything going against them in this one.
  • Fresno State is also going up against a tough P5 opponent on the road. The Bulldogs have a lot of unknowns after losing the core of their team this year. While this game won’t truly be telling, it may offer some clues. A blowout may not say much. A close loss may mean Fresno State is for real this year. An upset win? Then jump aboard the Fresno hype train.
  • New Mexico: See Air Force above, except Davie is basically coaching for his job every game. This game should be a good opportunity to build good habits on both sides of the ball and give all the new players time to gel.
  • San Diego State is out to prove last year was a fluke and not a trend. Although they open against an FCS opponent, Weber State is consistently one of the top teams at that level. This one won’t be an easy one to break in a new offense, but the Aztecs need to look good and let their defense carry any offensive adjustments.
  • The Rebels open up against Southern Utah and this needs to be an easy win to help them build confidence for their season if they are to reach their goal of a bowl game. Their defense should be pretty good, so be on the lookout for that.
  • Wyoming and Missouri are at it again. Things didn’t go the Cowboy’s way last time, will things look any different this year now that their offensive personnel appears to be settled in? Plus, the game is in Laramie.
