Football season is approaching, who’s ready? Today’s articles will take you around the league as teams are getting ready for their season openers.
Wyoming looking to strengthen depth at key positions
Starting jobs for the Cowboys are still up for grabs at punter and left guard but still need to work on the back up roles at many other positions. The defensive line is especially trying to sort through their back up roles behind starters Crall, Hall, Holt, and Jackson. DC Jake Dickert identified Claude Cole and Cole Godbout as players emerging in camp. Watch for Wyoming to get more clarity at depth positions as the season opener inches closer.
Update on Nevada injuries
Heading into the final weeks of the offseason, Nevada will be dealing with some key injuries. After injuries to Christian Solano (hand) and Malik Henry (hamstring), Nevada has two healthy eligible QBs, however, it is looking like freshman Carson Strong will be the starter. Take a look at what coach Jay Norvell has had to say about the Wolf Pack injury situation.
Lobo QB, Tevaka Tuioti, is back
The redshirt sophomore said he felt good to be back as he got a round of applause from the crowd. Tevaka Tuioti made his return after being away to be with his ailing grandfather in California. During that time he missed 8 practices but both he and his teammates are happy to have him back with the team. Tuioti said he watched game film while visiting at the hospital to stay as ready as he could. Coach Bob Davie says Tuioti will have his work cut out for him as his competition at QB has gotten stronger and also has to quickly be integrated into the offense.
Queta seems to only have short term injury after initial scare
Craig Smith tells me that Utah State's Neemias Queta did not suffer a torn ACL, MCL, or meniscus when he hurt his knee recently in Europe. Full extent of injury and return date is hoped to be known in next 3-4 weeks.
