Ranking Boise State’s Top Players: Number 5

This young receiver is poised to have a big role in 2019

NCAA Football: Fresno State at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

We are continuing our countdown of the top players on the 2019 Boise State football team. This week, we feature a player that is poised for a breakout season. He had a game winning touchdown against Fresno State and was electric in the Spring game. Coming in at number five...

Khalil Shakir

I know some people will argue that Shakir is ranked too high, but I believe that he has more upside than anyone on the offense. Last week Kekaula Kaniho was featured, and I discussed that he was the utility man on defense. Well, I feel the same way about Shakir on offense. He can line up anywhere; he even took snaps at tailback. I think Shakir will have a huge role in the passing game, but will also carry the ball quite a bit. I predict more than 1,000 total yards for Shakir in 2019 and some all-conference recognition in the process.

Will Shakir become a star in 2019? Or will he get lost in a deep receiving corp? We will find out soon enough.

Let’s take a look at the countdown to this point.

#15: John Ojukwu

#14: David Moa

#13: Avery Williams

#12: Zeke Noa

#11: Kekoa Nawahine

#10: Sonatane Lui

#9: Scale Igiehon

#8: CT Thomas

#7: John Molchon

#6: Kekaula Kaniho

#5: Khalil Shakir

What do you think? Where would you place these players? Stay tuned next week as we feature number four in the countdown.
