San Diego State to Play Home-and-Home Series with California

San Diego State and California have agreed to play each other in football, both home and away. The first game will be played in 2024 in Berkeley, the return game in San Diego the following year in 2025. Will Rocky Long still be coaching the Aztecs come the beginning of this series?

What you need to know about Bryson Stott, the Phillies first round pick in 2019 MLB Draft

In case you missed it, a Mountain West baseball player was selected 14th overall in the 2019 MLB Draft. UNLV’s Bryson Stott, a 21 year-old shortstop, will play for the Philadelphia Phillies. At his age, clearly the Phillies will hope that Stott is fast-tracked to the big leagues within the next 1-2 years. Either way, Stott is gettin’ paid.

Cubs select right-handed pitcher Ryan Jensen — the 109th-ranked prospect — with the No. 27 pick

I did not choose that suggestive headline, the Chicago Tribune did. Their skepticism aside, another Mountain West baseballer was selected in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Fresno State pitcher Ryan Jensen will be playing for the Chicago Cubs. While the article suggests the pick might have been a reach, Jensen was stellar at Fresno State with a 12-1 record and 2.88 ERA. He joins Stott in gettin’ paid.

Men’s college basketball 3-point line extended to international distance

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has moved the college basketball three-point line back. Their reasoning involves making the lanes more available for dribbling/plays. They also seem to be frightened by the usage of three-pointers in the sport and want to make it tougher to do so. Yeah, we’ll see how that goes.
