Ranking Boise State’s Top Players: Number 13

This undersized cornerback will play a big role in 2019

NCAA Football: Fresno State at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

This week we are continuing our countdown of the top players on the 2019 Boise State football team. This week we are featuring a player who’s biggest impact might come on special teams. Coming in at number 13...

Avery Williams

Williams came to Boise as a walk-on, but his work ethic and elite speed earned him playing time as a redshirt freshman. Williams will be one of the most critical players on the Boise State defense this year. Does he have the ability to be to be the number one corner? I’m not so sure. Avery has been solid as a number two corner, but with Horton out of the picture he will need to step it up. Williams will need to show growth in the red zone, where he struggled against larger receivers.

However, Williams’ biggest impact on the team could come on special teams. He has the potential to be the best return man in the Mountain West. With that being said, Williams will be one of the most important players on the Broncos. If he can take the next step, a loaded Bronco defense will be unstoppable.

Let’s recap the countdown to this point:

#15: John Ojukwu

#14: David Moa

#13: Avery WIlliams

Stay tuned, next week we will look at number 12 on our countdown.
