Ranking Boise State’s Top Players: Number 10

This run stopping force will look to finish his career in style

NCAA Football: Boise State at San Diego State Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

We are continuing our countdown of the top players on the 2019 Boise State football team. This week, we are featuring a player who was a former walk-on that has become one of the faces of the Boise State defense. Checking in at number 10...

Sonatane Lui

Lui will pair with Scale Igiehon to form a frightening duo. In the Spring game, the two nose tackles were on the field at the same time for the majority of the contest. Can we look forward to two three hundred pound behemoths staring down opposing offensive lineman? That remains to be seen, especially with the return of David Moa. Whether he shares time with Scale or remains on the field for the majority of the game, Lui will be a major part of Boise State’s defense in 2019. In his three years as a Bronco, Lui has started 22 games and has proven to be a force in stopping opposing running attacks. Since his emergence as a starter, opposing offenses have had a hard time running the ball up the middle. Lui and the Boise State defensive line will be a lot of fun to watch this coming season.

Let’s take a look at the countdown to this point.

#15: John Ojukwu

#14: David Moa

#13: Avery Williams

#12: Zeke Noa

#11: Kekoa Nawahine

#10: Sonatane Lui

What do you think? Where would you place these players? Stay tuned next week, as we get into the single digits.
