Walk-on scholarships, SID, triple option, T&F

NCAA Football: New Mexico at Colorado State Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

It’s Wednesday and we are here to bring you another fresh set of links.

Longtime Spartan SID promoted.

Lawrence Fan has worked in the San Jose State athletic department since 1980 (which is a long time). Now, he is taking on a new role, Associate Athletic Director for Football Communications and Special Projects. It’s very well deserved as has been great at his job and has been very dedicated to San Jose State sports.

The history of the option and how it has evolved.

Ah, the triple option. The most polarizing offense in college football. It can be a fun gimmick at first, but many find it gets old (when it’s your team) or annoying (when against your team) rather quickly. Be that as it may, the mothership wrote a history of the offense throughout the years that is worth the read.

Lobos put 5 on scholarship.

Videos of walk-ons finding out they are receiving scholarships never gets old. It’s a dream come true for these hard working players. New Mexico presented five players with scholarships last week. Here’s one of the videos and the rest are in the link.
