It took some waiting, but a Utah State Aggie was finally drafted in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs used the last pick of the 6th Round (214th overall) to get RB Darwin Thompson.
Where does he fit in?
- After the Kareem Hunt incident, the Chiefs have been looking for a new star in the backfield. Right now the best RB on the roster is Carlos Hyde. Thompson, even with a 6th round selection, has a chance to compete for the backup role come fall camp.
What does he bring to the NFL?
- He’s got speed and a low center of gravity. He can explode out of nowhere and leave defenders in the dust. What do the Chiefs like? A guy who has all of that. He’s the type of RB that you’ve got to hold your breath when he takes the handoff, because he could go the distance on any play.
Congratulations to Darwin and all Mountain West players drafted this year!
