Welcome to another Tuesday edition of MTV and welcome to tournament week! We have numerous articles for you this week. As always we have the new AP poll as well as some fun facts on Nevada basketball heading into the tournament. We also have news on the Fresno State’s Marcus McMaryion and his pro day.

Week 20 AP Poll

In the final AP poll before the NCAA tournament the Mountain West finally has 2 teams ranked. Utah States has entered the poll at #25. Nevada , after losing in the conference semifinal to SDSU, falls to #20. The ACC claims the top three spots as Duke, Virginia, and UNC each earn one seeds in the big dance.

One UNLV player didn’t like the firing of Marvin Menzies

After news that Marvin Menzies would not be returning to the team most UNLV players were silent, except for one. Freshman Bryce Hamilton said he “didn’t like it”. Hamilton explains that he felt the program had a bright future. Menzies was fired despite improving the teams record every year he was there. One of Menzies assistant coaches also took to twitter to defend Menzies saying “the program was becoming relevant again”.

McMaryion working towards NFL dream

Fresno State QB Marcus McMaryion has been putting on quite the show at his pro day. McMaryion’s 40 yard dash time of 4.69 seconds would have ranked top 5 at the combine. The Bulldogs star player had scouts from 28 NFL teams and 3 CFL teams. McMaryion has been working out with former Bulldogs players Erik Mahanke and David Carr in order to best prepare himself for the next level. The QB said he was excited for the opportunity for he and his teammates to work out in front pro scouts and has been excited about his performance.

Fun facts for Nevada’s first round matchup with Florida

The Wolf Pack head into the NCAA tournament as the 7 seed in the West region and are set to face Florida. Take a look at some key facts before the tournament begins. The knock on Nevada all year has been SOS (albeit more so the fault of underperforming opponents) as Nevada played the 111th hardest schedule while Florida played the 18th hardest. The two teams are also vastly different in play style, Nevada played with the 88th fastest tempo according to KenPom while Florida ranks 346th. The Wolf Pack enter the game as 1.5 point favorites and it is sure to be a fun watch. Make sure to check out the full article to get ready for the Pack’s opening round game.
