Wolf Pack’s Eric Musselman a finalist for national coach of the year
The awards and honors keep on coming for the Wolf Pack. This time, the focus has shifted to their head coach. Eric Musselman has guided Nevada through a successful season so far, and now he is gaining recognition for it. He is currently a candidate for the Naismith Men’s College Coach of the Year. At 25-2, the Wolf Pack are looking to continue to make their impact this season, and further make the case for their coach being the best this year.
Embarrassing Lobos loss at San Jose State getting lots of attention
The woes for UNM continue. The Lobos just can’t seem to find their rhythm this season, and this has led to more then just frustrations on the court. Many fans on are calling for the job of Paul Weir. The embattled head coach is only in his second season, but it seems like the fan base has lost their patience. With a record of 11-16, and currently sitting at 9th in the Mountain West, the season and hopes for UNM are pretty much over.
Two former Boise State stars aim to impress NFL at combine in Indianapolis
Two former Broncos are looking to make their mark this week at the NFL Combine. QB Brett Rypien and RB Alexander Mattison are hoping to make their mark with NFL teams at the Combine. After missing the 40-yard dash last season, Mattison will be participating in the drill this year. Alexander will be on the field with his fellow running back prospects on Friday. As for Rypien, the quarterback will be performing his on-field drills Saturday, and will be hoping to impress the scouts with his arm ability.
Fresno State baseball on a roll heading into conference-opening series
Fresno State is looking to continue their hot start this week as they head into a weekend series against UNLV. The Bulldogs are currently 5-1, and making their presence known throughout the Mountain West. They are looking to carry this momentum with them all season and make it back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2012.
Late-season awakening from Caleb Morris has bolstered Air Force basketball
After injuries limited Caleb Morris’ minutes early in the season, he’s come back with a vengeance late in the season. The Falcons seem to go how Morris goes. Air Force is currently 6-1 in games where he makes multiple three-pointers. Head Coach Dave Pilipovich thinks his star player has finally found his rhythm. And at the right time as well, as the Falcons look to make a late season push.
