NCAA Football: Mountain West Championship-Hawaii at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

Monday Monday Monday. We have a conference champion and 7 schools finding their bowl home. 4 MWC schools are still looking for their new coach. It’s a busy time in the Mountain West. Check some of the latest news out below.

Broncos dominate Hawaii, become Mountain West Champs.

The Rainbow Warriors forced a three-and-out, then got a FG for an early lead. Unfortunately for them, they wouldn’t score again until the 4th quarter when the game was out of hand. Bronco WRs John Hightower and Khalil Shakir were too much to handle and the Bronco defense made a few key 4th down goal-line stops, as Coach Rolovich wasn’t playing conservative with the stakes so high.

The Hawaii end of things.

On the other end of the game, Hawaii couldn’t bring a championship trophy to their strong season. This does not take anything away from what they did during the year. The Rainbow Warriors were plagued by being unable to get any points from two 1st and goal drives, as well as two costly turnovers. They will likely be playing at home for their bowl game, which would be against BYU.

The Athletic looks at the Fresno State opening.

This post makes note of the positive aspects of the job. Located in the fertile recruiting state of California. Fresno State being willing to pay their coaches pretty well. Being one of the better Group of 5 and MWC jobs. However, the facilities and amenities are behind much of college football. Among the list of possible names are former OC Kalen DeBoer, current DC Bert Watts, as well as the trendy names floating around for all open jobs (Harrell, Gonzales, Arroryo, and Mora).

Undefeated Aztecs

San Diego State and their terrific start were featured in the list of undefeated men’s basketball teams. They were 9-0 at the time of this writing (with a good chance to go 10-0 on Sunday) and are benefitting from strong play on the perimeter. Malachi Flynn and Matt Mitchell got a mention.
