Championship weekend is over and Boise State is the Mountain West Champion. With a Memphis victory, the Cotton Bowl likely won’t be an option. Let’s see how our team sees the Mountain West bowl situation playing out.
Zach:
Las Vegas Bowl: Boise State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii vs. BYU
New Mexico Bowl: Wyoming
Potato Bowl: Nevada
Arizona Bowl: Utah State
Cheez-It Bowl: San Diego State
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Boise State finished the season 12-1 and did not lose a conference game. Unfortunately, that will not be good enough to make the Cotton Bowl. It is a real shame that this Boise State team will not get a chance to have a high profile matchup to end the season. I think ESPN will match the Broncos up with Washington, so they can hype up Coach Pete vs. Boise State.

Cheez-It Bowl: San Diego State

Part of me thinks the Cheez-It Bowl will take Air Force, who deserves a good bowl fate with their ten-win season. But I made conservative choices with my predictions. It would be nice if ESPN made a few swaps to give MWC teams better matchups. I’d be fine with Boise State, Air Force, and SDSU being able to face P5 teams, along with Hawaii playing BYU.

No changes in my final bowl projections. I will be intrigued by what teams Boise State, San Diego State, and Air Force will all face. The Aztecs and Falcons could both face some P5 teams. The Broncos will play the final Las Vegas Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium, before it moves to Allegiant Stadium and feature PAC 12 and SEC/Big 10 teams. From what I have been seeing and hearing around town, Washington or Washington State could be making a trip to the desert. Either matchup would be fascinating. There would be Chris Petersen coaching his final game as Huskies coach against his old team. And of course, Mike Leach in Las Vegas, who wouldn’t want to see that?
