MWC Recruiting Roundup 12-23-19

Post-Signing Day rankings and info.

NCAA Football: New Mexico Bowl-Central Michigan vs San Diego State Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

It’s the Monday after the December Signing Period and what a whirlwind that was.

As you can see below, there are many less offers and commitments compared to previous weeks. I’ll be honest, this post doesn’t include every single offer or commitment that came about on Wednesday. Our Signing Day Tracker does have every player who signed on Wednesday and this one includes most of the action that happened before and after.

The latest offers point to showing what positions teams are still targeting for this class. Also expect to see offers handed out to players in future classes, as teams look to get a head start.

As far as the cover photo, I felt San Diego State had the strongest week with several late commitments and took their class from three or four verbal commits to twelve signees.

2019 Cover Photo Total:

  • San Jose State: 7
  • Wyoming: 6
  • Colorado State: 5
  • Air Force: 5
  • UNLV: 5
  • Nevada: 4
  • Boise State: 3
  • Utah State: 2
  • Fresno State: 1
  • Hawaii: 1
  • New Mexico: 1
  • San Diego State

Recruiting Calendar:

Starting last week, and until mid-January, we are in a Dead Period. This is the most restrictive time of year in recruiting. Communication is minimal and no face-to-face contact is permitted.

New offers to recruits can still go out during this time and recruits can commit or decommit from schools. Once a week phone calls are still permissible, as are unlimited texts, twitter DMs and other forms of electronic communication are allowed, as long as they remain private. Also, if a recruit has already signed, then there are no restrictions

Air Force Commit Tracker:

Since the Air Force Academy routinely has near 100 commits each year, let’s start tracking the number and see how it rises between now and February.

  • The Falcons are at 59 known commits.

Post Signing Day Team Recruiting Rankings:

Since the early signing period has ended and the dead period is upon us, it is unlikely rankings would change between now and January, so let’s throw them in now and strike while the iron is hot. Below is where MWCConnection sees the team recruiting rankings based off of the classes they have signed thus far. In case you didn’t know, this will also be the order for our Recruiting Road So Far series, running through Friday January 3rd. If you disagree with the rankings, offer some constructive counterpoints in the comment section, along with your own rankings.

  1. Boise State
  2. Wyoming
  3. Nevada
  4. San Jose State
  5. Air Force
  6. Fresno State
  7. San Diego State
  8. Colorado State
  9. Hawaii
  10. Utah State
  11. UNLV
  12. New Mexico
