The Mountain West Conference announced yesterday, in agreements with the University of New Mexico and the United States Air Force Academy, that the football game between the two schools that was originally scheduled for this Saturday, November 9th, will be postponed until November 23rd. The postponement is due to the death of New Mexico defensive tackle Nahje Flowers which occurred Tuesday morning.

The game, which was scheduled for a noon kickoff this Saturday, will still be noon kickoff on the 23rd. ”In light of the circumstances and following a thorough review of all factors, which included multiple conversations with both institutions, the Conference office has determined this is the appropriate course of action,” Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson said. “Our focus is on the family, friends and teammates who have been affected during this difficult time.”

New Mexico will next take the field against Boise State on November 16th. Air Force will also return to the field that day when they battle in state rival Colorado State.

Those who had tickets to the contest this Saturday will have those tickets honored on the 23rd.
