Game Time:
Saturday, November 30th at 12:00 PM (Mountain) on Facebook
The History:
These teams go back a ways, having met 57 times, Wyoming is 26-28 with 3 ties against Air Force. The teams last met last year in Laramie. The Cowboys won that game, 35 to 27.
The Matchup:
Air Force knows about running the football as the Falcons rank 2nd in the country in rushing offense. Defending the run, the Falcons rank 14th in the country. This is much like the Wyoming football team. The Cowboys rank 7th in rushing defense and 20th in rushing offense.
Passing isn’t what either team is known for. Air Force ranks 124th in passing offense. Wyoming is right behind the Falcons at 125th. That said, Air Force has done a lot better defending the passing game this season. The Falcons rank 53rd in passing defense while the Cowboys rank 116th.
Turnovers can really swing the direction of a game. In this area, Wyoming has been better than Air Force. The Cowboys are 10th in the country at +9 on the season while the Falcons rank 93rd in the country at -4 on the season.
The Outcome:
The spread has the Falcons by 11. While Air Force has had a very good season and is playing at home, that seems a little much. These teams matchup pretty well against each other and have played some close games in recent history. The Falcons deserve to be favored, but I think this will be a one-score game. If Wyoming can win the turnover battle by 2 or more, I could see the Cowboys springing an upset. However, I think Air Force will take care of the ball and not take too many unnecessary risks against Wyoming to finish the regular season with their 10th win in a defensive contest.
Wyoming 17, Air Force 24
