Boise State made a statement against Utah State on Saturday night. Did it make a difference? Unfortunately it did not in the Coaches and AP Polls. The Broncos stayed at #19 in the Coaches Poll and #20 in the AP Poll. I found it surprising that Boise State did not gain ground on Cincinnati despite the Bearcats struggling against inferior opponents the past three weeks and Boise State has been able to win convincingly with their third string quarterback.
San Diego State’s loss to Hawaii cost them their spot in the Coaches Poll. Air Force is only one spot out of the Coaches Poll with 74 votes, while San Diego State received 4 votes, and Hawaii received 2 votes. Air Force is only four spots out of the AP Poll, receiving 22 votes. It is looking like there is a good chance the Mountain West could finish the season with two ranked teams.
Update: The new College Football Playoff Rankings have been released and the Boise State Broncos come in at #20 for the second consecutive week. Memphis was #18 and Cincinnati #19. The two teams face off this week, meaning Boise State should move up with a win over Colorado State. Boise fans should root for Cincinnati to win this week and lose to Navy the following week.
