The Aztecs will try to continue their three-game winning streak on the road as SDSU travels to CEFCU Stadium to take on the Spartans.
This is San Diego State’s (5-1, 2-1 MW) game to lose. Currently the Aztecs sit atop the West in the Mountain West.
San Jose State (3-3, 1-2 MW) has been a surprisingly successful team this year and a win against SDSU would get them closer to a bowl game.
SJSU has played competitive football every game this season and recently lost a close game to Nevada by a score of 38-41.
The gunslinger behind all of this scoring is senior quarterback Josh Love who has recorded over 400 passing yards in three games this season.
SDSU has arguably the best defense in the Mountain West and will put pressure on Love every snap.
Look out for the secondary unit to shine if Love attempts more than his average 38 per game.
The Aztecs offense will have to rely on the their run game since SJSU is the only team in the nation with a higher turnover margin than SDSU.
The Spartans also lead the nation in interceptions with 13.
SDSU’s running back group of senior Juwan Washington, sophomore Chance Bell and sophomore Jordan Byrd, will have plenty of opportunities in this game.
SJSU allows 218 rushing yards per game which opens up the possibility for any of these running backs to have a breakout performance.
Byrd, Bell and Washington have been pivotal contributors for the Aztecs in all its wins, but Washington has struggled at times as he leads the team with 87 rushing attempts.
Bell and Byrd have been more efficient running backs and they could see an increase in snaps if Washington isn't able to produce early in this game.
The Aztecs’ defense is key to win this road game and continue their pursuit to the Mountain West Championship.
