What a week of college football! Boise State made its case to be the Group of Five favorite and San Diego State looks to be the favorite in the West. Let’s take a look on how our team projects the Mountain West Bowl picture.
Zach:
Las Vegas Bowl: Utah State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii
New Mexico Bowl: San Diego State
Potato Bowl: Wyoming
Arizona Bowl: Fresno State
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Cotton Bowl: Boise State
San Jose State’s bowl hopes are now dead. I considered taking Fresno out, and I might if they look bad against UNLV. Right now, it is looking like Utah State and Boise State might be playing for a division title. Boise State is clearly the best team in the conference at this moment. Nevada is getting close to entering my projections.
Mike:
Las Vegas Bowl: Utah State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii
New Mexico Bowl: San Diego State
Potato Bowl: Wyoming
Arizona Bowl: Fresno State
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Cotton Bowl: Boise State
Boise State and San Diego State see their stock rise, while Hawaii, Fresno State, and Wyoming take a step back. Air Force and Utah State hold strong. The Bulldogs are still on pace to get to 6-6 and a bowl, but it won’t be an easy road and a loss in either of the next two games and I’ll be dropping them. Also looking unlikely that any other team can climb their way into a bowl game this year.
Bruce:
Las Vegas Bowl: Utah State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii
New Mexico Bowl: Fresno State
Potato Bowl: San Diego State
Arizona Bowl: Wyoming
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Cotton Bowl: Boise State
Same bowl projection lineup in the past couple weeks. Boise State looks to keep their streak, and the Cotton Bowl talk, going after a huge win against Hawaii in a dominant fashion.
Alex Wright:
Las Vegas Bowl: San Diego State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii
New Mexico Bowl: Nevada
Potato Bowl: Wyoming
Arizona Bowl: Fresno State
Cheez-It Bowl: Utah State
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Cotton Bowl: Boise State
Jake McNeil:
Las Vegas Bowl: San Diego State
Hawaii Bowl: Hawaii
New Mexico Bowl: Wyoming
Potato Bowl: Utah State
Arizona Bowl: Fresno State
Armed Forces Bowl: Air Force
Cotton Bowl: Boise State
Seven bowl-bound teams is right at the top-end of what I think the conference is capable of producing. Despite winning against San Jose State, I don’t see two more wins for Nevada this year (espeically considering how frisky UNLV looked in a big-game scenario). Hawaii losing to the Broncos sets up San Diego State to play in the MWCCG and take the Las Vegas Bowl spot, assuming Boise is the NY6 invitee. You could mix up the teams in the other bowls, but I think these make sense geographically to get tickets sold.
