San José State Football Receives $1-Million Gift

Something positive about Spartan football! The donation comes from individual(s) who remain anonymous, although I can confirm it was nobody from the MWC Connection team. This donation will go to improving the locker room in the Spartans’ football facility. It’s been a rough go for the Bay Area program, but obviously somebody (or somebodies) still has faith.

Colorado State football assistant Alvis Whitted to take position with Green Bay Packers

This is a bigger blow than what is typical for position coaches that are leaving. Whitted is responsible for luring some dominant receivers to the Front Range, which obviously caught the attention of the Green Bay Packers. Nate Craig-Myers is a great parting gift, but the Rams will miss Whitted.

Despite being a new face, Wolf Pack fans know who Tre’Shawn Thurman is (Video)

Thurman had to sit out for an entire year, but Nevada’s Tre’Shawn Thurman has been a defensive star for the Wolf Pack. The forward who transferred from Omaha has been the glue guy for this Nevada team that sits at 20-1 and making waves in the Top 25 of college basketball. Nevada hosts Boise State on Saturday.

Wyoming promotes Jake Dickert to be defensive coordinator

After Scottie Hazelton, the Mountain West’s formerly highest-paid assistant, took the same defensive coordinator job at Kansas State, Wyoming was left with a huge hole on their coaching staff. That hole was filled by promoting Jake Dickert. Not the flashiest hire ever, but it’s an important one. Keeping the solid defense train moving is incredibly important to Craig Bohl keeping up progress for Wyoming football.

Aztecs football: Lawson out as DL coach; two more 2019 recruits commit

The “It is not yet known whether Lawson officially resigned or was fired” sentence will surely catch the eye of readers. I don’t think many perceived the Aztec defensive line to be a weakness, or struggling, but clearly something happened that resulted in Lawson vacating the position. In other Aztec football news, two more 2019 recruits are San Diego bound.
