2019 Tropical Bowl: Stock Report

Who raised or lowered their stock this weekend?

NCAA Football: Eastern Michigan at San Diego State Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

One post-season bowl down, let’s discuss how it went for each of the Mountain West players competing over the weekend.

First off, many apologies. There has been little to no discussion or recaps from the Tropical Bowl. The other two will be much different (there’s already a ton of video and thoughts floating around about the East-West Shrine Game practices). So this stock report is limited at best. However, the lack of coverage is all the more reason to put this out, even if the players won’t get the attention they deserved.

If anyone has seen anything discussing these players that I haven’t seen, please post it. Been searching for a few days and this was all I was able to muster.

WR Sean Modster (Boise State)

  • Twitter buzz
  • Synopsis: It appears Sean was doing Sean type of things. Sounds like he ran good, quick routes and came down with catches more often than not. This combined with a very good pro-day definitely puts him into free agent mini-camp territory as a slot receiver.
  • Stock Report: UP

LB Bryson Bridges (San Jose State)

  • Synopsis: No info found
  • Stock Report: N/A

DT Boogie Roberts (San Jose State)

  • Twitter buzz
  • Synopsis: Praise isn’t thrown around lightly and Roberts got a nice write-up here. Causing havoc in the backfield is a great way to get noticed and he was able to do just that. Showing he can go up against quality OL players who are bigger than him and succeed is huge. Boogie may be able to have a future as an undersized DT or DE.
  • Stock Report: UP

OL Nathan Jacobson (UNLV)

  • Synopsis: No info found
  • Stock Report: N/A

LB Ronley Lakalaka (SDSU)

  • Twitter buzz
  • Synopsis: Lakalaka did what he does best and did it on a bigger stage. He was a tackling machine and made plays. He displayed a nice variety, tackling well in the open field, in the run, and on special teams. That bodes well for his future.
  • Stock Report: UP

DE Anthony Luke (SDSU

  • Twitter Buzz
  • Synopsis: That’s all that was found on Luke. Any stats are better than no stats, but for someone who didn’t have a stand out college career, he also didn’t do much to open eyes in this opportunity.
  • Stock Report: SAME

OT Benjamin Knox (Colorado State)

  • Twitter buzz
  • Synopsis: Knox got a nice write-up by this site, highlighting his technique and use of his hands. Sounds like he won most of his 1v1 drills as well. OL isn’t as obvious as skill positions, but those are the areas you want to see them succeed in.
  • Stock Report: UP

K Wyatt Bryan (Colorado State)

  • Synopsis: No info found
  • Stock Report: N/A

Now, one could make the argument that no news is bad news for prospects. However, I won’t hold anything against this group and will give them the benefit of the doubt. Again, sorry to every prospect we weren’t able to find info for. You deserve better. Any rumors or thoughts or links in the comments section would be appreciated.
