College football’s bowl season showed serious cracks in 2018 — and it will get worse
Idaho Statesman’s Chadd Cripe wrote a column about what many fans noticed during the bowl season. Outside of the major bowl games, the importance of the bowls seems to be decreasing. From coaches leaving, to players sitting out, to a bowl game even being cancelled, the days of a bowl being treated as a special accomplishment seem to be in the past.
Warrior Beat: Rolo Effect
Hawaii rewarded head football coach Nick Rolovich with an extension and a pay raise, although the details on the pay raise weren’t made public. It was wise to reward Rolovich now with two absurdly tough schedules in the coming in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Rolovich earned some leeway and now has it.
Aztecs will bring in graduate transfer to compete with Agnew for starting QB
One of the bigger surprises during the 2018 Mountain West football season was the back half of the schedule collapse by San Diego State. The defense was top notch, but the Aztecs offense was as bad as ever. Because of this, Rocky Long is looking to bring a grad transfer to compete with Ryan Agnew. If the Aztecs manage to find a good one, they would make for a nice dark horse on the Group of 5 scene in 2019.
