All twelve teams are back in action this Saturday. Keep your evening open as the majority of the action is set for later in the day.
Game 1 - New Mexico (1-0) at Wisconsin (1-0)
Game Time: 10:00 AM (Mountain)
Television - Big Ten Network
Spread - Wisconsin by 35
The Lobos are coming off of a 62 to 30 win against Incarnate Word in Week 1. Now, they have to travel to Wisconsin to take on the #5 team in the country after the Badgers easily beat Western Kentucky, 34 to 3.
Game 2 - Nevada (1-0) at Vanderbilt (1-0)
Game Time: 10:00 AM (Mountain)
Television - SEC Network
Spread - Vanderbilt by 9.5
In Week 1, the Wolf Pack poured it on Portland State on their way to a 72 to 19 win. The Commodores will be a much tougher challenge. In Week 1, Vanderbilt shut down Middle Tennessee State in a 35 to 7 win to start their season.
Game 3 - Air Force (1-0) at Florida Atlantic (0-1)
Game Time: 12:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - Florida Atlantic by 9.5
The Falcons impressively dominated Stony Brook in a 38 to 0 Week 1 victory. Conversely, the Owls were dominated by Oklahoma in a 63 to 14 loss to start their season. This game will likely be much more evenly matched than either of those two games.
Game 4 - Wyoming (1-1) at Missouri (1-0)
Game Time: 5:00 PM (Mountain)
Television - ESPNU
Spread - Missouri by 18.5
The Cowboys hung tough for three quarters against Washington State, but could not stop the Cougar passing attack or move the ball late. Rebounding from the loss will be difficult as Nico Evans is likely out this week at RB. The Tigers easily defeated UT Martin, 51 to 14, to start their season. They are led by QB Drew Lock - a likely top pick in the next NFL draft.
Game 5 - Arkansas (1-0) vs Colorado State (0-2)
Game Time: 5:30 PM (Mountain)
Television - CBS Sports Network
Spread - Arkansas by 13.5
The Rams are coming off of a blowout loss to Colorado, 45 to 13. The Ram’s defense has struggled mightily, allowing 40+ points for the second week in a row. Last week, the Ram’s offense seemed to take a step back from the Hawaii game. Meanwhile, Arkansas is coming in off of a 55 to 20 win over Eastern Illinois to start the season under new coach, Chad Morris.
Game 6 - Fresno State (1-0) at Minnesota (1-0)
Game Time: 5:30 PM (Mountain)
Television - FS1
Spread - Minnesota by 2
The Bulldogs annihilated Idaho in Week 1, 79 to 13. Without a doubt, it was an impressive way to start the season. The Golden Gophers easily beat New Mexico State to start their season, 48 to 10. This match-up should be much closer than either team’s opener and should make for an entertaining football game.
Game 7 - New Mexico State (0-2) at Utah State (0-1)
Game Time: 6:00 PM (Mountain)
Streaming - Facebook
Spread - N/A
Utah State is coming off of an impressive performance on the road against Michigan State. Utah State played with the #11 ranked team in the country in Week 1. Meanwhile, New Mexico State has been struggling with a tough stretch to start their season. This is the rematch of last season’s Arizona Bowl where New Mexico State won.
Game 8 - Sacramento State (1-0) at San Diego State (0-1)
Game Time: 7:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - N/A
The Aztecs are coming off a 31 to 10 loss at Stanford to start the season. Coming off of the loss, San Diego State can feel good with Juwan Washington as the next Aztec RB as Washington ran for 158 yards and a TD against Stanford. Sacramento State beat St Francis IL last week. This week will probably be a little different for them.
Game 9 - UTEP (O-1) at UNLV (0-1)
Game Time: 7:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - UNLV by 23.5
The Rebels put up a good fight last week at USC but lost, 43 to 21. The Rebels ran for 308 yards against USC. Meanwhile last week, UTEP lost to Northern Arizona (FCS), 30 to 10. UTEP went win-less in 2017, so this program last saw a win in 2016. Expect the Rebels to run for big yardage and a win this week.
Game 10 - UConn (0-1) at Boise State (1-0)
Game Time: 8:15 PM (Mountain)
Television - ESPNU
Spread - Boise State by 31.5
The Broncos soundly beat Troy to start the season, 56 to 20. As impressive as that start was, the Huskies had the opposite experience in Week 1. UConn lost to UCF last week, 56 to 17. Boise State gets a chance to make an apples-to-apples comparison with how well they fare against UConn since UCF and Boise State are ranked right next to each other right now. The margin of victory in this game could determine which Group of 5 team is higher ranked next week.
Game 11 - San Jose State (0-1) at Washington State (1-0)
Game Time: 9:00 PM (Mountain)
Television - PAC12 Network
Spread - N/A
San Jose State lost to UC Davis (FCS), 44 to 38, to start the season. San Jose State gave up a lot of yardage to UC Davis - mostly through the air. Expect more of the same against Washington State as Mike Leach throws the ball a ton. The Cougars come into this game after beating Wyoming, 41 to 19.
Game 12 - Rice (1-1) at Hawaii (2-0)
Game Time: 10:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - Hawaii by 17.5
The Rainbow Warriors have an offense. I repeat, the Rainbow Warriors have an offense. Hawaii has won two games in a row where they were double-digit underdogs. This week Hawaii is a double-digit favorite. Rice is coming off of a 45 to 27 loss to Houston last week. Based on what I’ve seen so far this season, expect another high scoring game in Hawaii.
Game of the Week Prediction - Fresno State at Minnesota
Two teams that easily won their opener. The spread suggests this game is a toss-up. I agree that this should be a good game. The MWC is looking for a win against the Power 5. This is probably the best chance for the conference this week.
Let us know which game you think will be the Game of the Week in Week Two.
