Hawaii’s McDonald Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week

The Warriors gunslinger tossed 6 touchdown passes vs. Navy

Hawaii Warriors quarterback Cole McDonald was named the Mountain West’s Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after throwing for 428 passing yards and 6 touchdowns vs. Navy this past Saturday in a 59-41 victory.

McDonald finished 30-for-41 in passing and torched the Midshipmen in balanced fashion by throwing wide receivers John Ursua, Cedric Byrd, and JoJo Ward each two touchdown passes. McDonald also balled out vs. Colorado State in “Week 0”, but the Mountain West does not begin giving out weekly awards until Week 1 because...well I don’t know.

We’re only two games into Hawaii’s 2018 campaign and McDonald already has 846 passing yards with 9 touchdown passes, along with 82 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns. He’s poised to have a classic monster run-and-shoot stat line this season.

Hawaii will host the Rice Owls this upcoming weekend at Aloha Stadium.

Here’s some highlights of the damage McDonald has done.
