Welcome to the Labor Day/I’m on vacation edition. If news happened over the weekend, it may not be included in here, but will get in next week. This week some official visits have began. It seems like many schools, even though they were eligible to host, are not doing so this weekend. It seems like this is mainly by design, as teams are preferring to wait another game or two. Wyoming is hosting though. Also, Boise State picked up a new commit and handed out a few offers, so they are on the banner this week.
Coming next week: September recruiting rankings!
Scheduled Official Visits
The heart of official visit season is upon us now that August is ending and games are back. I was able to get in touch with a large number of the verbal commits scattered across the 12 Mountain West Conference teams. While many have yet to schedule their official visits, and many of the Nevada pledges have already gone on theirs, here is what has been scheduled so far:
Boise State
- DB JL Skinner will visit for the UConn game
Utah State:
- QB Josh Calvin: Has not scheduled anything yet.
Wyoming:
- RB/DB Dawaiian McNeely this weekend
- DB Mark Aitken this weekend
Commitment Spotlight
WR Malikhi Miller (SJSU)
“My biggest factors on my decision was having a great relationship with the whole coaching staff and it felt like a great environment to be in. I loved the energy they have going on. The whole coaching staff are all pretty young and energetic. I can tell that they care about all of there players. They just said I’m a great kid and player. Personally, I am a coachable player with a hard work ethic and expects to catch every ball that comes my way.”
OL Ben Dooley (Boise State)
“The mindset and the culture up there that they have created is a winner’s mentality. The coaching staff models that and the players as well. But also that their facilities are amazing and academics are everything I will ever need. They are really personable coaches and make you really feel like part of a family. They said they like my focus in the classroom and my attitude when it comes game time.”
