Another day, another set of articles for you to peruse at your leisure. Get caught up on all the news around the conference.
Week 5 Athletic CFB Rankings
Each week Chris Vannini ranks all 130 FBS teams. Of the notables, Bama is obviously 1. He puts UCF at 15, whether you agree or not. The highest MWC team is Boise State at 26, one spot behind Oklahoma State who beat them. Hawaii and SDSU are back to back as well, at 43 and 44 respectively. Fresno State seems a big low at 55 and Utah State also seems better than 59. SJSU comes in at 129, so at least they aren’t last in something.
SBNation Mothership gives bowl projections.
To start, they have Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl against Auburn. However, they say UCF could just as easily be in there (which they would be if the season ended today). They have 6 MWC teams overall. However, they must’ve not heard about the Aztec injuries, as they have them in the Vegas Bowl. UNLV in New Mexico, Utah State in Potato, Hawaii in Hawaii, and Fresno State in Arizona.
Despite age, Coach Long has plenty left in the tank.
He’s the winningest coach in MWC history and a three-time conference coach of the year. But Rocky Long isn’t done yet. Injuries have piled up this for them this year, but he pushes him team on and they are winning more often than not so far. The team’s depth has been tested but Long continues to plug players in and survive.
Lobos getting healthy at QB... but starter is undecided?
Good morning from Lobo football practice, @UNMLoboFB QB1 @TevakaTuioti is indeed practicing. No. 16 will be starting for the Lobos out of the bye week for their homecoming game against Liberty of Virginia Saturday at 4p.

Tevaka Tuioti is the Lobos starting quarterback for their homecoming game against Liberty this Saturday? Not so fast says coach Bob Davie, who says Sheriron Jones has been taking advantage of his time as the starter. Jones had a great week of practice last week.
