Only 6 games this week as almost half of the conference is off this week. That means no Boise State, Wyoming, Fresno State, New Mexico, or San Jose State.
Game 1 - Nevada (2-1) at Toledo (1-1)
Game Time: 10:00 AM (Mountain)
Television - CBS Sports Network
Spread - Toledo by 10
The Wolf Pack are coming off a victory over Oregon State, 37 to 35. Meanwhile, Toledo is looking to rebound from a 24 to 49 loss to Miami. To beat Toledo, the Wolf Pack will likely need to try to win another shootout. Currently, Nevada has the 102nd ranked defense.
Game 2 - Illinois State (2-0) at Colorado State (1-3)
Game Time: 1:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - N/A
Colorado State is coming home after a 48 to 10 beatdown at Florida. Illinois State is a very good, FCS program that has started the year with two, easy wins, outscoring their opponents 94 to 10 on the season. This game could be trouble for Colorado State. The Rams have the 121st rushing defense, allowing 6.2 yds/rush on the season. Illinois State is averaging 5.8 yds/rush and already has 7 rushing TD’s in their two games played.
Game 3 - UNLV (2-1) at Arkansas State (2-1)
Game Time: 5:00 PM (Mountain)
Television - ESPN3
Spread - Arkansas State by 7.5
Last week, UNLV beat Prairie View, 46 to 17. Arkansas State is coming off a win at Tulsa, 29 to 20. The Rebels have a potentially favorable matchup in this one. UNLV is the #3 ranked rushing offense in the country while Arkansas State is the #97 ranked rushing defense.
Game 4 - Air Force (1-1) at Utah State (2-1)
Game Time: 8:15 PM (Mountain)
Television - ESPN2
Spread - Utah State by 11
Last week, Utah State absolutely crushed Tennessee Tech, 73 to 12. Air Force is coming off a bye, but they lost a close one at Florida Atlantic before that, 33 to 27. Utah State has thrown the ball well so far this season. That might be a matchup to watch after Air Force really struggled against the passing attack of Florida Atlantic.
Game 5 - Eastern Michigan (2-1) at San Diego State (2-1)
Game Time: 8:30 PM (Mountain)
Television - CBS Sports Network
Spread - San Diego State by 11
The Aztecs are coming off of a victory over a ranked Arizona State team, 28 to 21. Eastern Michigan is coming off of a loss at Buffalo, 35 to 28. Still, Eastern Michigan should not be overlooked as the Eagles beat Purdue earlier in the season. Expect the Aztecs to run the ball quite a bit in this one. Eastern Michigan has the 116th ranked rushing defense.
Game 6 - Duquesne (3-1) at Hawaii (3-1)
Game Time: 10:00 PM (Mountain)
Spread - N/A
The Rainbow Warriors lost at Army last week, 28 to 21. Meanwhile, the Duquesne Dukes beat Dayton, 31 to 26. While the Dukes are a decent FCS team, Hawaii should easily win this game. Duquesne played UMass in Week Zero and lost, 63 to 15. So far, that is the only win for UMass this season.
Game of the Week Prediction - Air Force at Utah State
Utah State and Air Force have both done some good things in non-conference play. It will be good to see how they play against one another. Also, these two teams have played close games the last three seasons that were decided by one score. Air Force won all three of those games, so don’t immediately assume Utah State will win this one since the Aggies are favored.
Let us know which game you think will be the Game of the Week in Week Four.
