A quick recap of the MWC action from Week Zero:
Game 1 - Hawaii at Colorado State
Final - Hawaii 43, Colorado State 34
The Rainbow Warriors owned the first half and held a 37-7 lead with 3:35 to play in the 3rd quarter. From that point, K.J. Carta-Samuels and the rest of the Rams passing offense decided to start torching the Hawaii secondary. It was enough to get CSU back in the game, but not enough to win. If you like to see teams throw the ball around, this was the game to watch. Cole McDonald threw for 418 yards and 3 TD’s while Carta-Samuels threw for 537 yards and 5 TD’s.
Game 2 - Wyoming at New Mexico State
Final - Wyoming 29, New Mexico State 7
The Cowboys came out with a tenacious defense that smothered the NMSU offense. Wyoming got the running game going to a total of 312 yards and 3 TD’s on the ground. The Aggies did nothing all game until scoring a TD with 1:16 left in the game against the 2nd-string defense.
Game of the Week - Hawaii at Colorado State
As a Wyoming fan, I loved the Wyoming/New Mexico State game. That said, the Hawaii/Colorado State game had: (1) tons of offense, (2) an underdog running it up early, (3) a huge momentum-swing and comeback, and (4) late game drama with the game still in doubt. Easy pick this week.
