Recruiting Update: Boise State

The beginning of August could be crucial for the Broncos

NCAA Football: Las Vegas Bowl-Boise State vs Oregon Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

August is usually a slow time for recruiting with fall camp beginning and the season on our minds. However, yesterday marked the first day where recruits could receive official offers. The last few months have been slow on the recruiting front for the Broncos, as they have not received a commitment since June 19th when running back Keegan Duncan made his pledge to the Broncos. BSU coaches often shoot for the stars in recruiting and it can occasionally lead to long dry spells. There were some interesting takeaways yesterday as current recruits pledged their continued commitment and others possibly made a statement with their silence.

Current commits show some love for the Broncos:

Golden has an impressive list of offers that continues to grow.

Can Duncan be another Idaho great at BSU?

Kline recently received an offer from UCLA, but still looks like he is solidly committed to the Broncos.

And the one all of the fans are keeping a close eye on made quite a statement...

  • Boise’s first commit, Alec Pell recently received an offer from Colorado (his home state).

Boise did not shy away from players that are already committed to other schools:

Kpaka committed to Purdue in June.

Reed committed to Texas Tech in June.

The Broncos are still targeting some big names:

Yesterday the Broncos continued to make offers to athletes from Long Beach Poly. The Broncos have done well there in the past.

Something to keep an eye on...

BSU fans shouldn’t worry too much about the lack of commitments. Boise tends to land the majority of their recruits after game visits during the season.
