UNLV Fall Camp Update

The Rebel’s fall camp has been in action for a few weeks now. They have been in full pads since the second week of August as well as recording their first scrimmage at Sam Boyd Stadium

The Rebels are getting first and second team reps going with full pads and contact.

The NCAA has changed the number of practices this season from 29 to 25. In a quote to the Las Vegas Review Journal head coach Tony Sanchez had this to say about the rule change. “They shortened the amount of days we can do it in, which didn’t make any sense. I’m sure they’ll go back and revisit it. The days off are huge.”

UNLV will have three games broadcast on AT&T SportNet

Position Battles:

There were several different position battles that took place during the last few weeks of camp. According to the Las Vegas Review Journal

— Junior Jaron Caldwell is competing with sophomore Donovan Outlaw at tackle and senior Zack Singer at guard.

— Senior Jameer Outsey has been running first team at defensive end over junior Nick Dehdashtian, but coach Tony Sanchez said they are expected to share snaps.

— At nose tackle, freshman Chris Manoa took advantage of sophomore Kolo Uasike’s nearly week-long absence due to weight-loss issues. Uasike is expected back Friday, heating up the competition.

Special Teams have been getting a lot of reps behind coach Burkett.

UNLV Camps will be updated when new information comes in before the season opener on Sept. 1 against USC.
