NCAA Football: San Jose State at Nevada Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

Half way through the week and half way through August. We have some more news out of fall camp for you to check out.

Air Force might have its defensive coordinator

Troy Calhoun still hasn’t named his defensive coordinator, but John Rudzinski seems to be leading the first-team defense in practice. Air Force’s defensive position coaches have plenty of experience, so the DC duties may be a bit of a group effort.

Colorado State making improvements on defense

A recurring storyline out of CSU’s fall camp has been the potential return of defense to Fort Collins. The Rams have played well offensively the past few seasons, but poor defense has held them from breaking out. Under new defensive coordinator John Jancek, the defense - especially the secondary - is striving to be a strength of the team this season.

Transfers making impact at UNLV

UNLV has thirteen transfers on its current roster, including projected starters Jocquez Kalili and Zack Singer. Coach Tony Sanchez discusses what he considers when evaluating whether a transfer will be a good fit with his team or not.

A look at San Jose State’s first fall scrimmage

Coach Brent Brennan has created a family atmosphere at San Jose State, and there is a sense of optimism around those close to the program. Their first official scrimmage on Saturday provided insight into their ongoing quarterback competition and their quest to improve on the offensive and defensive lines. The Spartans will have a lot of doubters to prove wrong after going 2-11 last season.
