Things in Boise remained fairly quiet as the Broncos held their first scrimmage on Saturday. News out of camp is usually sparse, this year has been no different. Here are a few takeaways from Harsin’s interview on the first scrimmage:
- The Broncos started their scrimmage at the same time of the day they will be playing Troy.
- The coaches will break down tape and start determining the role that each individual will have this year. They will likely have an idea of which true freshmen will contribute and who will redshirt.
- Hydration and nutrition have been a focus throughout camp to this point. Boise has been dealing with higher than normal temperatures, including the last three days that have been well over 100.
- John Hightower made some nice plays at receiver and seems poised to contribute.
- Mattison and Rypien both had a strong scrimmage.
- To no surprise, the defensive line looked solid. This might be the deepest unit on the Broncos.
- Harsin thinks the upcoming series with Oregon is great for both sides.
